Data Policy
Ensemble Scientific, Inc.
Effective date: 20 August 2026
Last updated: 20 August 2026
This page explains what happens to the data your equipment collects. For how we handle personal information about people, see our Privacy Policy.
What we collect from your equipment
Our sensors and controllers report on physical conditions in your fields:
- Soil moisture and soil temperature
- Canopy and air temperature
- Solar radiation, wind, humidity, and rainfall
- Water flow, valve state, and irrigation run times and volumes per zone
- Device health: battery level, signal strength, and diagnostics
Together with the configuration you set up, this is what we call your field data.
You own your field data
Your field data is yours. Operating our equipment does not transfer ownership of it to us.
You can ask for a copy at any time, in a machine-readable format, by writing to [email protected].
What we do with it
We run the service with it. Your field data drives your dashboard, your alerts, and, if you use it, autonomous irrigation. This is the main thing it is for.
We support you with it. Our team looks at your data when you ask us for help, when equipment appears to be faulting, and when we are investigating a problem across our fleet.
We develop and improve irrigation models with it. Understanding how soil, weather, and irrigation interact across many sites is how the models get better, and better models are the product. Your data contributes to that work.
What leaves Ensemble, and what does not
Anything we publish, present, or share outside Ensemble Scientific is aggregated first, so that it cannot be traced back to a particular farm, field, or operator.
We do not sell your field data.
We do not show your field data to other growers. Your data is visible to people you have authorized within your own organization, and to Ensemble staff who need it to run and support the service.
Automated analysis
For customers who turn it on, we run an automated daily check that looks for problems in your fields and raises them in your dashboard for review. That check sends field data to an artificial intelligence provider in the United States for analysis, under terms that do not permit your data to be used to train their models.
It is off unless it has been enabled for your organization, it cannot control irrigation, and anything it raises is marked so you can tell it apart from a person's judgement. The detail is in section 8 of our Privacy Policy.
Where it is kept, and for how long
Your field data is stored in the United States, on infrastructure operated by DigitalOcean. It is encrypted in transit and at rest, and backed up regularly.
We keep field data for as long as you are a customer. If you leave, tell us what you want done with it — exported, deleted, or both — and we will do it.
Your customer agreement
This page describes what we do today, and we intend to keep doing it. The formal terms covering ownership and permitted use of field data belong in your customer agreement with us. If anything there ever conflicts with this page, we will tell you rather than quietly rely on the difference.
