Ensemble sensors

Below are some of the sensors we use for autonomous irrigation, as well as for monitoring soil conditions, crop health, and irrigation system performance.

Canopy temperature sensor

Leaf temperature + ambient air temperature

Ensemble Scientific’s infrared temperature sensor (ES-IRT) is a dual sensor measuring leaf temperature and ambient air temperature. Actively transpiring leaves are cooler than ambient temperature. The difference between leaf temperature and ambient air temperature helps to determine if the plant is water-stressed or not.

Soil moisture sensor

Soil water potential + temperature sensor

Soil water potential refers to the availability of water to plant roots, a key factor that directly influences plant health and growth. Ensemble Scientific’s Soil Water Potential + Temperature Sensor (ES-SWP) is a dual sensor providing digital readings of soil water potential and soil temperature. We use it to ensure that soil moisture is maintained within the range for optimal crop growth and maximum productivity. The ES-SWP sensor is easy to install using a cordless drill and auger bit. Since it measures soil water potential directly, no calibration is required, ensuring accurate and reliable results for efficient crop management.
